Great Create.

Once a month Lyrik and Breedom get together to host the ultimate of craft nights.  Local artists come together with current projects for the chance to work in an environment filled with other inspired people.  With a "No-Project-Turned-Away" attitude...painters, sculptors, cartoonists, knitters, seamstresses, and even hula-hoopers have shown up to work at the art cafe located at 2035 SE 39th.  Take a look at some photos from last nights Great Create.

(the Greate Create is held on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6-10)

Portland Paper City is an installation collaborative showcasing abstract, figurative, and architectural representations of the City of Portland through the art of papercraft and paper sculpture.
Spearheaded by designers, Marisa Green, Jessie Bazata, Sean Garrison, and Rory Phillips, Portland Paper City has united the community, as well as emerging and established artists in the
Portland area, by inviting them to contribute work that represents their love of Portland.
Original papercraft templates including people, vehicles, and animals have been provided for the public to download, craft and submit to the installation at www.portlandpapercity.com. Area artists are also invited to contribute unique paper works that are inspired by Portland.

This exhibition was made possible by Art Spark, a creative networking event put on by the Regional Arts and Culture Council. In March of 2010 Portland Paper City entered a proposal to show at Disjecta. The public voted and Portland Paper City won.
Portland Paper City, an all paper installation collaborative, is being exhibited at Disjecta from Saturday, March 5, 2011 through Saturday, March 26, 2011. The opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 6PM-9PM.

Daymoanstar @ Lyrik

Vaughn Anderton aka Daymoanstar is the first of many monthly music acts to play at Lyrik.  I met the Pendleton native this summer while he was playing at a house show and his potential for great things in the music scene in Portland is obvious.  He's a tremendous spirit which carries into his stage presence making for a show you wind up smiling through (not an easy feat in a town with such a strong showing in the somber, shoe-gazing, indie rock genre).  If you missed the show, check out the photos below and go visit Daymoanstars myspace.
-Breedom.

Lyrik and Breedom will be teaming up to bring you live music on the third Thursday of each month.  Keep an ear to the ground for the lineup for the show on February 17th.

Mochitsuki Portland 2011

Just thought that I should let you all know that we are selling tickets for Mochitsuki 2011.
Last year, I volunteered at the event and it was a pretty fun and amazing event.
The entrance for general public is free... there are many yummy Japanese food vendors and shows. But if you'd like to see Mochitsuki choreographs, there are 3 shows to choose from.
Please check their website for more info http://mochipdx.org/
We probably will be selling tickets until the day before... but if you are planing to attend the shows, my advise is to get the tickets asap. Last year, many people could not see them because the tickets were sold out, and they are cheaper if you by in advance.
By the way, because we are volunteering to sell the tickets (and the outrageous fees from credit card merchants) we can only take cash for Mochitsuki tickets.
Enjoy the show!
