Mochitsuki Portland 2011

Just thought that I should let you all know that we are selling tickets for Mochitsuki 2011.
Last year, I volunteered at the event and it was a pretty fun and amazing event.
The entrance for general public is free... there are many yummy Japanese food vendors and shows. But if you'd like to see Mochitsuki choreographs, there are 3 shows to choose from.
Please check their website for more info http://mochipdx.org/
We probably will be selling tickets until the day before... but if you are planing to attend the shows, my advise is to get the tickets asap. Last year, many people could not see them because the tickets were sold out, and they are cheaper if you by in advance.
By the way, because we are volunteering to sell the tickets (and the outrageous fees from credit card merchants) we can only take cash for Mochitsuki tickets.
Enjoy the show!

Neighborhood Dinner

Happy New Year!!

It has been a while ago.... but I just found out about these photos recently and have to post them.
Eatcho our dear artist friend took these photos at our Brazilian Neighborhood dinner when I made feijoada.... I will try to have another time soon, it is just that things have been crazy lately.
I am also planning to have some Brazilian food in the menu soon; probably in February when we will start to be open until 8 pm (the initial plan was in January...).

Here are the photos:

And more in his blog (at the end of this post): http://eatcho.com/blog/?p=1326 with Eatcho's comments.

Thanks for another amazing year!!!

bio
A native of Kinderhook, NY, Patrick Haemmerlein is a freelance designer & artist living in Los Angeles. After receiving his BFA from The Savannah College of Art and Design in 2000, Patrick took the long road trip cross country and settled down in LA. There he began to obsessively
photograph the city and its components. This gradually moved into a new art form as he started to combine & create with the images he was shooting. Reflecting on the issues of the day, Patrick explores themes of nature Vs. industry and how they can coexist or clash. The images are
all designed from photographs that Patrick has taken. The buildings and cityscapes are from Los Angeles while the animal and farm photos were mostly taken around his hometown area in upstate NY. They are not only a juxtaposition of nature and industry, but a combination of imagery from his two homes - one rural and one urban. These pieces are all made on recycled wood. Crate tops, dresser drawers, table tops, shelving, wine boxes and whatever else Patrick drags home from the treks around his Hollywood neighborhoods.
